Effective March 10, 2017
Generally it is possible to use the Website and the App without providing us with any personally identifiable information, but users have the option of providing various types of personal information to make the best use of available services and features. Providing the information is always voluntary, however, and you can always choose not to provide the information by choosing not to use the service or feature.
INFORMATION SUBMITTED BY YOU
Postcode: On the App you have the choice of providing your Postcode. We use it to find the specials and offers in the supermarkets close to your location.
E-mail Address: We collect the e-mail addresses of those who communicate with us via e-mail, storing information volunteered by members, such as survey information and site registrations. We do not share, sell or rent your email address to any third party.
INFORMATION ACQUIRED AUTOMATICALLY
We collect certain information on the Website and the App through the user's experience and activities, cookies, log files, clear gifs, and/or third parties to create a profile of our users. A profile is stored information that we keep on individual users that details their viewing preferences, activities and interactions with Grocery Specials. Consequently, collected information is tied to the user's personally identifiable information to provide offers and improve the content of the site and the app for the user.
Cookies: A cookie is a piece of data tied to information about the user and stored on the user's computer. We use both session cookies, which terminate when a user closes his browser, and persistent cookies, which remain on the user's computer until manually deleted. Cookies are used to help make your use of our Website more enjoyable. Grocery Specials creates these cookie files on your hard drive through your browser and uses them to save information or preferences so you can avoid re-entry of this information each time you visit our Website. Cookies also help us to deliver content specific to your interests.
Log Files: Like most standard website servers we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, device identifiers (explained below), internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. We use your IP address at times to help identify you as you browse and to gather broad technical and demographic information on who uses our Website and App. We do not tie log files to personally identifiable information.
Device Identifiers: When you use a mobile device like a tablet or phone to access to the Website or the App, we may access, collect, monitor, store on your device, and/or remotely store one or more "device identifiers." Device identifiers are small data files or similar data structures stored on or associated with your mobile device, which uniquely identify your mobile device. A device identifier may be data stored in connection with the device hardware, data stored in connection with the device's operating system or other software, or data sent to the device by Grocery Specials.
Device and Usage Information: We may collect information about your device and usage that may include (i) information specific to your mobile device (e.g., make, model, operating system, advertising identifier and similar information); (ii) information about your use of features, functions, or notifications on the device; and (iii) signal strength relating to Wi-Fi functionality, and similar technical data.
Clear Gifs (Web Beacons/Web Bugs): We employ and/or our third party advertisers employ a software technology called clear gifs (also known as Web Beacons or Web Bugs). They help us better manage content on our site by informing us what content and which campaigns are effective. Clear gifs are tiny graphics, about the size of a period at the end of a sentence, with a unique identifier. Clear gifs are similar in function to cookies and are used to track the online movements of Web users. In addition, Grocery Specials and its advertisers may use clear gifs in HTML-based emails. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of certain communications and the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns by showing how many emails recipients have opened. We do not tie web-beacons to personally identifiable information.
Aggregated information: We aggregate personal information into statistics about users, and their usage of the App. We may provide third parties with such statistics, but never in a way that would make the information personally identifiable: this data is aggregated from thousands of users to the App each month.
Analytics Partners: We may also share certain information such as, postcodes, device identifiers, device usage information, and other usage data with third-party data analytics partners.
